Opposition: a word is enough within ten days, the merits come later
Updated on October 24, 2026
Filing opposition means telling the office that enforcement is contested, in whole or in part. Article 74 DEBA does not require reasons within the ten days. Saying that opposition is filed is enough, at the counter or in writing. Partial opposition must state the amount contested. It stops the creditor continuing until the opposition is set aside or there is an enforceable title. It does not erase a debt that exists. Ignoring the payment order means no opposition.
What the DEBA says
After opposition, a creditor who has an acknowledgement of debt or a judgment asks the court to set the opposition aside. A debtor who opposes without a serious ground may be ordered to pay costs.
